Q&A: Stafix experts answer
Everything you need to know about choosing, printing, and planning with Stafix self-adhesive POS materials — answered by our team.
✨ Which POS material works on my surface?
For window graphics, GRIP (optically clear version) is the go-to choice. It adheres to smooth glass with a glue-free silicone layer, works for up to 12 months indoors, and leaves zero residue when removed. Print mirror-wise, apply from the inside, and your design speaks for itself from the street. STATIC is perfect for shorter campaigns. See our window graphics guide →
Freezer glass is unforgiving — but GRIP and DOTS are built for exactly this. Both maintain strong adhesion at temperatures down to -30°C, resist moisture and condensation, and remove cleanly without residue. No peeling, no bubbling, no drama. Perfect for frozen food campaigns, seasonal promotions, and price communication right where shoppers make decisions. PULPO, too, is a great option for freezer glass campaigns. Yes — that’s exactly where PULPO shines. Thanks to its acrylic foam micro-suction layer, PULPO grips surfaces that ordinary films simply slide off: slightly textured walls, painted surfaces, and semi-smooth materials. If your surface isn’t perfectly smooth glass, PULPO is your friend. Not sure if your surface qualifies? Drop us a line → — we love a good surface challenge.
MAGNET is your answer. It’s a pre-magnetized, PVC-free material that clings to any smooth iron or steel surface with no glue, no mess, and no damage. Place it, move it, reuse it. Ideal for shelf edge promotions, metal display stands, and any steel surface in retail. Explore MAGNET →
For large-format indoor applications, DOTS is the top pick. Its dot-patterned silicone adhesion layer makes bubble-free application easy even on big prints, and the pattern disappears completely once applied — no visible marks, just crisp graphics. GRIP is a great alternative for surfaces that need a slightly stronger hold. Check formats for printing houses →
GRIP is the outdoor warrior of the Stafix range. It handles temperatures from -30°C to +70°C and is rated for up to 6 months of outdoor use. STATIC and DOTS are designed for indoor use. If you’re planning an outdoor campaign, talk to our team → — we’ll make sure you get the right material for the conditions.
☘️ PVC-free POS materials — What you need to know
PVC releases harmful dioxins during production and incineration, contains toxic additives including phthalates and cadmium, and is notoriously difficult to recycle. For brands with ESG commitments or sustainability reporting requirements, continuing to use PVC in POS campaigns creates real risk — both environmental and reputational. Switching to PVC-free alternatives is one of the easiest wins in sustainable marketing. Explore Stafix sustainable materials →
Yes — PVC-free materials are significantly easier to recycle than PVC, which contaminates recycling streams. PAPTIC, Stafix’s fully plastic-free material, is fully recyclable through standard paper recycling. Other Stafix materials (STATIC, GRIP, DOTS, XTAC, PULPO) are PVC-free and phthalate-free, supporting cleaner end-of-life disposal. Always check local recycling capabilities for specific film types. Questions? We’re happy to help →
Increasingly, yes. Many European grocery chains, fashion retailers, and pharmacy groups are updating their supplier requirements to exclude PVC from in-store marketing materials — driven by EU sustainability regulations and their own ESG targets. If your retail partner hasn’t asked yet, they likely will. Getting ahead of this requirement now is much easier than scrambling later. Talk to us about compliance-ready materials →
PAPTIC is Stafix’s wood-fiber-based, fully plastic-free self-adhesive material. Unlike conventional POS films made from polyester or polypropylene, PAPTIC contains no plastic whatsoever. It has a premium textile-like feel, prints beautifully, adheres with a removable UV hot-melt layer, and is fully recyclable. It’s the strongest sustainability statement you can make in a POS campaign. Learn more about PAPTIC →
PVC-free means no polyvinyl chloride — avoiding its toxic additives like phthalates and chlorine compounds. But the material may still contain other plastics (like polyester or polypropylene). Fully plastic-free means no plastic at all. Stafix PAPTIC is the only fully plastic-free option in the range — made entirely from renewable wood fibers. All other Stafix products are PVC-free. Absolutely. XTAC delivers industry-leading print quality with vibrant colors and exceptional stiffness — printed with standard offset and inks. PAPTIC produces stunning results in offset and UV-inkjet printing. The days of “sustainable but dull” are over. You don’t have to choose between a great-looking campaign and a clean conscience. STATIC, GRIP, DOTS, PAPTIC, XTAC, PULPO, and MAGNET all run on offset. Available in standard sheet formats — including 707×1000 mm and 500×700 mm depending on the product. Yes. GRIP, DOTS, PAPTIC, XTAC, and PULPO are all available in wide-format reels (1370 mm wide) for UV-inkjet, latex, and eco-solvent printers. STATIC is available in UV-inkjet reels (700 mm wide). Wide-format is ideal for large outdoor campaigns and floor-to-ceiling retail graphics. See full reel formats →
Yes. Stafix materials are compatible with both Dry Toner and HP Indigo printing technologies. Several products — including GRIP, DOTS, PAPTIC, XTAC, and PULPO — work well with Dry Toner, while STATIC, GRIP, PULPO, and MAGNET are available in HP Indigo sheet formats (320×460 mm and 530×750 mm). Both technologies deliver excellent results on Stafix materials, making them ideal for short-run, personalized, or variable-data POS campaigns. Printing on self-adhesive film is straightforward but not identical to paper. Key things to check: use the correct ICC profile for the material, ensure your press handles static-sensitive substrates (especially STATIC), calibrate for the specific adhesion layer, and run a test sheet first. Our team provides optimal print settings for each material — just ask. We’ve helped hundreds of print houses get it right first time. Get in touch →
Yes — most Stafix materials are available in both formats. Sheets suit offset, dry toner, and HP Indigo presses. Reels (up to 1370 mm wide) suit UV-inkjet, latex, and eco-solvent wide-format printing. Packaging varies by product and format — typically 100–200 sheets per box or 30 & 100 m per reel. 💎 Planning a POS campaign? Here’s what you need to know
Five things: the surface where it will be applied, the duration (short-term or long-term), whether you need clear or white background, the environment (indoor or outdoor), and the size and quantity. With those details, we can recommend the right material, format, and quantity — and help your printer get it right first time. Start planning with us →
Reusable materials like STATIC and GRIP can be repositioned, removed, and reinstalled multiple times. This cuts costs on material, installation labour, and surface cleaning compared to permanent adhesive films that have to be replaced after each campaign. Brands running frequent seasonal rotations — four or more per year — typically see significant savings by switching to removable solutions. See how brands do it →
It depends on the material and environment. STATIC is ideal for short-term campaigns (days to a few weeks). GRIP lasts up to 12 months indoors and 6 months outdoors. DOTS, XTAC, and PAPTIC are suited for medium to long-term indoor use. For campaigns with specific duration requirements, tell us the timeline → and we’ll match you with the right product.
No — and that’s a big part of the value. All Stafix materials are designed for easy installation by store staff without specialist tools or training. STATIC adheres on contact. GRIP and DOTS apply smoothly without bubbles. This removes a significant cost line from campaign budgets and enables faster rollout across multiple store locations simultaneously. GRIP is the most versatile option for mixed-environment campaigns — it performs indoors for up to 12 months and outdoors for up to 6 months, handling temperatures from -30°C to +110°C. For purely indoor campaigns with multiple surfaces, combining STATIC (smooth, short-term) with DOTS (larger formats) or PULPO (textured surfaces) covers most scenarios. Use our material selector →
